It's Spring...Again! Hallelujah!

After a long, dreary winter that sometimes seemed as if it would never end, there's hardly anything better than a balmy spring day! It's wonderfully comforting to witness the world transform from the cold gray days of winter into bright, colorful, warm days of Spring! It is in this transformation that we are able to witness the vivid creativity and diversity of God's awesome creation.

Our Heavenly Father is so creative within Him dwells diversity but not division and the true glory of His kingdom reflects this very unity and diversity. We are not the same individually, racially, ethnically, physically, etc., etc. But we are all called to demonstrate the love of the Father and conform to the image of Christ and with that general calling that applies to all believers without exception, the Father knew in His infinite wisdom that when done correctly we as believers would and should exhibit common traits but we would fulfill His plan and purpose for our lives with the details being as infinitely diverse in manifestation as He is almighty and wise. So your praise isn't going to be someone else's praise just as no one else has your testimony. We at Victorious Radio want to encourage our listeners to seek the will of The Father as conformity to the world will only seek to make you an imitation while conformity to the Word and will of God will only serve to develop and secure your identity in Messiah and you can take heart because that identity is not an imitation of anyone else but it is purely and uniquely who God created you to be. Who God created you to be should reflect His glory, everything that we do and all that we are should reverberate His glory for that is our primary purpose, to bring Him glory!

Victorious Radio Weekly Update - Thanksgiving Edition

This Thanksgiving keep persecuted Christians in your prayers as our Christian brothers and sisters in the various nations of China, India, Pakistan, Sudan, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other nations all over the world need Christian disciples to intercede for them.

As you may well know, Not everyone has the freedom to worship like those of us here in the U.S. and with what freedom we do have, we need to be sure that we do not take that freedom for granted or ignore those who are being beaten, raped, jailed and even killed for naming Christ as Savior and Lord! Also keep in mind, especially with the state of the economy being what it is that there are many families that are dealing with the issue of hunger and according to Marketwatch.com food prices are predicted to rise 2 to 3%. Often hunger and homelessness go hand in hand, we ask our Christian disciple listeners to live up to their mandate of assisting the poor, needy, homeless and hungry in your community. Proverbs 21:13 says "Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard." While I John 3:17 says, "If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion--how can God's love be in that person?" and James 2:15-17 says, "Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, "Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well"--but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone."

So we can pray and have faith that the hungry will be fed and the homeless will be housed, and the naked clothed but if we don't do our part to help them then our faith is meaningless and dead. So let's pray for those in need but let's also do our part to be a blessing and to them!

Facebook page of a great organization that seeks to bring attention to missing people of color
who are often ignored by mainstream media and authorities. People such as 16 year old, Delvonte Tisdale, from Charlotte, North Carolina was found deceased and his body horribly mutilated in the
front yard of an upscale neighborhood in Milton, Massachusetts home. Despite his family reporting
him missing to the authorities, there was no Amber alert issued for him and nothing would've
been reported had it not been for his body showing up in the upscale Boston suburb of Milton.

Pagan Christianity

One of my earliest childhood memories while growing up in Michigan was going trick or treating with my mom, aunt, younger brothers and my cousins. This was back in the '70's so things were still somewhat innocent, but I remember even then the paranoia of razor blades in caramel apples and tainted candy. However that would be the first and last time that I would ever go trick or treating and I was all of 4 years old. But as a teenager, when all of my friends were out trick or treating and celebrating Halloween I never felt as if I was missing out on anything and after reading the Bible thoroughly and discovering through research the pagan origins of Halloween, I was not in anyway interested in participating in Halloween. So when I became an adult and had my own children, celebrating or in anyway acknowledging Halloween was not of any interest to me. We're Christians! Why would I ever celebrate a day meant to glorify death, darkness, and horror? But when other Christians found out that I did not allow my children to participate in Halloween festivities, they became offended and made it seem as if my children would be missing out on some kind of childhood rite of passage that if I failed to allow them to participate like the other kids by dressing up and getting candy that they would somehow be permanently mentally and emotionally traumatized! Others would try to simply offer me Halloween alternatives such as Harvest festivals and various outings that were meant to be a substitute for Halloween. But why can't it just be another day? If anything because it is a pagan high holy day, Christians should only perhaps mark the day by fasting and prayer instead of attending Halloween and Harvest celebrations and gorging themselves on cider, candy and other junk food. But Christians are so willing to place Jesus "on the shelf" or hide Him away in their Sunday morning closet religion and are more willing to offend God Almighty than they are to offend misguided Christians or those who are unsaved who don't believe in Jesus or see the necessity in salvation anyway.

In recent years, I have changed my perspective on the observance of holidays, all holidays even Christmas and Easter. Because I am vehement about Christians indoctrinating their children in the ways of true Christianity, I researched the origins of these holidays and discovered that their origins are pagan as well. Christmas which is meant to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ is nothing more than a pagan winter festival as reputable theologians believe that Jesus was actually born in Autumn during the Feast of Tabernacles and not in the winter. I don't do Christmas decorations, trees or any of it! Why? I'm a Christian and those things have nothing to do with the birth of Christ and have more in common with the pagan winter celebrations from which they originate. But more than that, the Bible says absolutely nothing about celebrating His birth instead we are told to remember His death and His suffering. All of the warm fuzzy charitable things that people wait until Christmas to do like feeding the hungry, etc. are things that Christians are mandated to do everyday anyway so what makes December 25th special?

Which leads to the celebration of Easter which is traditionally when Christians celebrate the death burial and resurrection of Jesus but Easter is itself a pagan fertility celebration hence the origins of the rabbit and the egg because it's quite obvious that a rabbit and eggs have no relevance to Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. But as is the case with Christmas, the Catholic church chose Easter to coincide with druid and other pagan celebrations that occur on the same dates.

As we get closer to Christ's return, is it wise for Bible believing Christians to celebrate pagan holidays that have only been disguised as holy days for Christians but are in actuality pagan holy days? Or worse participate in celebrations for holidays that are anti-Christian in their practices such as Halloween just to appease the status quo? Since when did appeasing the status quo become the Christian thing to do especially when it impedes upon obedience to Christ? Did Jesus appease the status quo? I'm not trying to rain on anybody's parade but I am hard pressed to believe that anyone with the indwelling of the Holy Ghost has not already been convicted about such celebrations. Maybe you've unwittingly quenched the Holy Spirit by justifying your participation in these so-called holidays or maybe you were just not aware of the origins of these celebrations and why it is contrary to biblical Christianity to do so.

Enjoy life! Please, by all means have a ball but is it too much to ask, in light of Jesus' great sacrifice that you don't contradict biblical Christianity by trying to appease a sin sick world? Are you or your children going to miss out on anything by opting out of celebrations that occur to glorify the pagan and the demonic on October 31st? Wouldn't it be an awesome act of worship to The Only True and Living God not to mention a wonderful witnessing tool to non-Christians not to dress up or participate in Halloween or Harvest day celebrations at work or school? You don't have to be crass or uncouth about it but lovingly, kindly and tactfully opt out by choosing to work or do something else constructive instead of participating in festivities meant to acknowledge the day.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the middle of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16

Do not profane Christianity by mixing it with paganism! Otherwise why even bother identifying yourself as a Christian if you don't have a secure identity in Christ? For those who may feel convicted, repent and roll on! When you know better, you do better! For those who are still not convinced and are creating justifications and excuses in your minds to keep celebrating these pagan holy days, then this message is not for you as you have already made up in your mind that you would rather fall in line with this false hybrid of pagan Christianity rather than to adhere to true biblical Christianity. God bless you and I'll be praying for you to wake up!

Holy Hip-Hop: Is It Godly or not?

As a reformed Hip-Hop fan I have to say that when I originally heard of Holy Hip-Hop music I thought to myself, "Yeah right!" Then circa 1998 I heard The Grits' Factor of Seven and it was over! I still loved secular Hip-Hop but I was glad that there was an alternative to all of the profanity and vulgarity of secular hip-hop. After establishing KPOZ, I fell more in love with the worshipful aspect of Hip-hop! Then last week a friend of mine posted these two videos to her Facebook wall for feedback. The more I listened, the more livid I became. Ex Ministries is on the hunt and it's prey is gospel hip-hop music.

At the helm of Ex Ministries is G. Craige Lewis and he is making much ado about Holy Hip-Hop. Lewis who's website gives no basis as to what he believes or what his doctrine entails, is full of disdain for all hip-hop and gospel/Christian/holy hip-hop is no exception. This man has no basis for what he is teaching and yet he has made a ministry out of bashing hip-hop. Okay cool, I hear him loud and clear regarding most secular hip-hop and yet even in secular hip-hop, there are artists who rap about positive, meaningful things. Unfortunately they don't get a lot of air time anymore and Mr. Lewis wants to make the whole of a genre of music vile, corrupt. He has some valid arguments as I used one of his videos in one of my previous posts "Gods and Demigods" regarding the subject of celebrity worship but on the subject of gospel hip-hop I have found that his attempts to invalidate the significant positive effects of this music on an entire generation are presumptuous and thoroughly unfounded. I get it already, this guy loathes hip-hop! For him it is everything that's wrong with society. But what I'm not getting is where he gets off being so "holy" in his own right that he can place judgment and destructively criticize how someone else chooses to praise God? This man has compared to gospel hip-hop artists to the seven son of Sceva Acts 19:13-16 and the young woman who was possessed with a spirit of divination Acts 16:16-18.

What arrogance and carnal hubris to believe that just by mere virtue of his dislike of all hip-hop that somehow that makes even gospel hip-hop corrupt! When I hear artists like Lecrae, Trip Lee, Sho Baraka, Hee Sun Lee, Jovan MacKenzy, to name a few lifting up the name of Jesus and rapping about crucifying the flesh, taking up their crosses and encouraging people to pray and seek the will of God, then when I hear people like Mr. Lewis, I only need reflect on my childhood when people who had his same pharisaic, hyper-critical, judgmental spirit were trying to overcompensate for the lack of genuine holiness within their own lives.

Now I should warn you the video below which pertains to some silly hip-hop prayer bible is at best stupid but Mr. Lewis wants to somehow lump gospel hip-hop artists in with the garbage that some poor misguided soul thought up as a marketing scheme. Mr. Lewis tries desperately to use it as leverage to try to further discredit gospel hip-hop. He is lame in his correlation but that is all the more reason why what he is doing is destructive, needlessly distracting and in the long run could very well backfire on him because of the lameness of his argument.

There are so many more but if you read the lyrics from those three songs alone hopefully you'll understand why Mr. Lewis needs to be careful about questioning someone else's motives and someone else's methods of praising and worshiping God based on his meager opinion and then going so far as to bend and skew scripture in a feeble attempt to give his ignorant argument credibility. In reviewing his website and watching several of his videos on Youtube, he looks more and more like just another hater who is trying to steal some of the gospel hip-hop artists' shine for himself. If there was any kind of real holiness about him he'd humble himself and pray for those who he believes are in conflict with the gospel. But then again that wouldn't get him speaking engagements or sell his books.

Beware of such nit-picky arguments and debates! This is an apostate distraction to keep people from dealing with the issues that truly matter in the church such as sexual abuse, misuse of tithes and offering, and an entire host of matters that need to be addressed but never will because there are so many apostate teachers, preachers, etc such as Mr. Lewis who are vying for the attention of the church and do everything they can to have true Christians take their eyes off of Yeshua. Study music history and you will find that every era has it's own special way of worshiping, praising and exalting The Most High. Before singing there was chanting, then singing hymns, then singing what we now know as gospel music. If you believe that what these artists are doing is exploiting the gospel, evil, corrupt or demonic and if you believe that people like me are wrong for loving such music then I would like to humbly ask that you pray for us that God will reveal to us the error of our ways so that we can repent and truly get on one accord with the Holy Ghost and what will truly honor The Father. But if all you have to offer is judgment and criticism then you reveal where your heart is and I'll be praying for you!

Matinee idols, rock idols and the like have been around for quite sometime but over the past decade we have gone from a culture that merely celebrates celebrities as a pastime to out right worship of celebrities. We want to talk like them, look like them, we want to live vicariously through them. Celebrities for many have become like the pagan gods and demigods of ancient times. Say something in objective criticism of Beyonce or Jay Z or Nicki Minaj or Lil' Wayne and watch people come to their defense even people who call themselves Christians. Look at the roster of shows and websites dedicated to giving you the inside scoop on the private life of your favorite celebrity and observe how many celebrities as a result of their ascent into the heights of fame have been able to parlay their celebrity into clothing lines, fragrances, endorsement deals, etc.

You may ask, "What's wrong with that?" Well probably nothing besides the fact that many of these celebrities have been linked to luciferian, satanic and gnostic doctrines. Before you get all excited and tune me out, don't take my word for it, do your own research. If you do so objectively you will find that many celebrities have sold themselves out for the sake of fame and the opportunity to be immortalized as a contemporary god or goddess.

Let me define the difference between these beliefs and why Christians, specifically should be wary of anything resembling celebrity worship.

Celebrity worship has become a way of life for many. Christians know more about Kim Kardashian than they do about the Bible. They'll read and study the life of Drake but will scarcely know anything about the life of Christ or anyone else in the Bible that isn't spoon-fed to them by their pastor or minister on Sunday morning. This is a travesty and in case you haven't noticed, you are apart of the final generation. Yeshua (Jesus) is soon to return and what better way to keep you distracted than to get you so caught up in the life of a celebrity that you can't focus on God's plan and purpose for your life. You might be thinking, "Lighten up! It's only entertainment!" You'd be naive to believe that the power brokers, movers, and shakers who own these record companies and movie studios merely do what they do for your entertainment and their material profit. The people who control the life and image of your favorite celebrity could care less about your entertainment and they are already quite wealthy, thank you! They don't need you to purchase their music, etc so that they can become any wealthier than what they already are. It's all about indoctrinating you and your children in philosophies that are anti-christ so that they can ultimately rule over you.

Did you know that many celebrities have witches, warlocks, and other occult leaders on their payroll to pray over their movies and master tapes of their music so as to enchant and cast spells upon those who listen and watch them? Do you understand that there is an anti-christian agenda at work to skew and warp your perception of right and wrong? I believe that African Americans have become use to rock music, etc. being pegged as satanic in nature but few of them are truly willing to accept the actuality of occult influences in Hip-Hop, and even contemporary R & B music. Selling one's soul to become famous is not new neither is it myth, legend or something of old, it isn't new and the proof of it is in the lyrics of your favorite Hip-Hop, pop artists songs and videos. It's in the small, minute details in the background of your favorite movie and television show. These are no longer lunatic conspiracy theories, this is truth! Second of all, celebrity worship provides a kind of escapism to those who are vulnerable and suffering because economic and financial woes, poor choices as a result of slack morality and on and on! In their planning of a one world government, the elite have a plan to depopulate the planet to a more manageable number of people which means that once this government is implemented they will go about the process of exterminating more than a third of the world's population, the rest they will simply seek to enslave. The elite of this world, who deem themselves as gods hate you! They hate you and everything that you love they hate, especially if you are a Christian!

Have you read your Bible lately? When was the last time you spent time in the presence of the Lord? When was the last time that you witnessed to someone about the goodness of Jesus? Where are your priorities? Have you been duped into idolatry by seeking to emulate the celebrity, pagan gods and demigods of this world? It's not too late! Snap out of it! The Myth of What It Is To Be Black

During my lengthy hiatus for purposes of relocating back to Southern California from Columbus, Ohio, I had a lot of time to think about the subject matter of what it is to be Black or African-American. We've all heard the comedians poke fun at what Black people do and don't do. "Black people don't swim." "Black people don't ice skate." "Black people don't_________." You fill in the blank and the crowd laughs! Well, far be it from me to be a killjoy but even as I laugh in the back of my mind I understand that these things can be quite damaging to the psyche of a Black person especially a young Black person.

I am the nerdy Black chick, who ever since my earliest childhood, was often accused of "talking like a white girl". It wasn't until I got in my early 30's that I began to embrace my "nerdness" and actually appreciated the fact that I defied the standards of what was traditionally thought to be "blackness". I was and still am an avid reader. I loved rock music every bit as much as I loved gospel, jazz, hip-hop or R & B/soul music. I was such a nerd as a younger kid that I actually read the dictionary and the encyclopedia; the dictionary because I loved words and the encyclopedia because I loved to research and explore topics that were unfamiliar to me on a personal level. I thank God for my mother who encouraged me to be me, although there were times when I sensed that my nerdiness irritated her.

Black people have detrimentally internalized very harmful stereotypes that have stifled the growth of who we are as a people and even more harmful is the perpetual myth of the Black monolith or the asinine idea that somehow Black people have to have a litmus test for blackness as if blackness is something that can be measured in terms of anything other than merely being Black and of African ancestry. Everybody's black experience is not the same. It is every bit as variant as there are individuals who are Black and have lived the Black experience. The funny and rather ironic thing about these myths of Blackness is that they are stereotypes that come from the mostly racist perspective of people of other races who have never lived a day as a Black person but somehow they "know" more about what it is to be Black more than we do. A lot of Black people apply these myths to themselves and other Black people as some kind of standard or litmus test of Blackness because they don't feel comfortable enough in their own skin about being Black and these myths somehow provide a sense of validation and justification and even a sense of camaraderie.

Recently on Twitter, I saw several black people tweet about how they were sick of being marginalized by US, other Black people who are constantly reinforcing the myth of what Black people do and don't do and essentially who we are! I wish that more Black parents and leaders would reinforce the actuality of what it is to be happy with who God made you as an individual and that no Black person should seriously internalize and subscribe to myths that may be real for some but by no means describes the vast diversity of who we, as Black people really are! I remember being a teenager and being afraid to admit to anyone that I liked rock music because rock music was still considered "white people's music". As I got older, I realized just how idiotic the whole "white music", "black music" thing was. I listen to music that's good to me. Music that transcends race, ethnicity, genre and music that I can relate to regardless of the fact that I am a Black woman and the artist may or may not do music that could be traditionally attributed to Black people. I have decided that if who I am is not "Black" enough for someone then it's okay because I'm going to be who God created me to be.

My suggestion to the reader: Find out who God has created you to be as an individual! Stop allowing other people to define you and tell you who you are, what you like and should not like, what you do and don't do! Black people don't skydive? Skydive. Don't limit yourself because of what someone else's personal definition of what it is to be Black instead buck those myths that don't apply to you and don't be afraid to be you! You are unique and different! The myth of what it is to be Black robs us of our right to be the individuals who God created us to be and the freedom to just be. If your circle of friends and family are even trying to limit who you are then it's time to put a little distance between them and you so that you can truly find out and know who you are so that you can live your best possible life in Christ.

The older I get, the more I realize that my Black might not be your Black but we're still Black and the day that we allow each other to just simply be, is the day that we will truly be free!

I'm not really big on entertaining conspiracy theories but the subject of environmental pollution in poor, minority communities is one of those things that raises the proverbial eyebrow and truly makes one wonder if this is one of those things where there is some plot to create a permanent underclass of poor, un- & under-educated minorities. This study in the link above, found a minimum of 232 toxic chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of minority children which any doctor will tell you could have a profound effect on a child's development. Because these chemicals have been discovered in the cord blood of these children, the negative effects of the presence of these toxic chemicals could be far reaching from causing cancer, learning disabilities as well as physical and mental disabilities and anomalies to contributing to other various developmental issues from autism to mental retardation. Most of the plastic related chemicals have already been linked to premature birth, particularly in minority women. This to me is not so much cause for fruitless panic and alarm as it is for action. Join in the fight to stop environmental pollution in our most vulnerable of communities!

Gone Too Soon

As I sit here comfortably in my home there is overwhelming laughter accompanied by the sound of little feet running around in my home. Those are the sounds that a mother appreciates and treasures even if it can be annoying at times. But over the past month or so I have been nothing short of grieved in the core of my being subsequent to the deaths of 5 year old Shaniya Davis and 17 month old Jashon Williams. Even as I write this post I hold back tears of sadness and frustration at the thought of these two beautiful lives being snuffed out before they ever had a chance to even really know what life was about.

The monsters who were responsible for the deaths of these young, tender souls are easily the objects of abhorrence and disgust however they were not alone in their obvious transgression and alleged crimes of murder. There is an entire community to blame for not speaking up and being more vocal about the violence taking place in predominately black communities against our children. Almost a month or so before Shaniya and Jashon went missing and were found dead, a nation watched in horror as a Chicago area high school, honor roll student, Derrion Albert was beaten to death in broad daylight, on his way home from school! This is madness! If this were some case where our children had been kidnapped, raped and murdered by the Klan, there would be an outcry from your usual suspects of Jackson, Sharpton & Farrakhan and yet these three beautiful children loss their lives because we are busy bickering about whether the movies "Good Hair" or "Precious" are good representations of who we are as a people! Our children are being devoured by senseless violence and yet I don't hear the lamenting, weeping, and wailing for these and so many more who went to their graves before their time because we have failed as a community to protect them! What happened to us being our brother's keeper? What in the heck is going on with the church and especially the black church? And the black press...LOL! They are laughable when it comes to addressing these issues and they seem to only feel moved to do so when the mainstream media addresses it and even then they do so with an apathetic, lack of concern which leads me to think that they don't have the best interest of the black community at heart any longer. I am incensed that there are actually individuals who made excuses for the killers of Derrion Albert but failed to understand that it is attitudes such as what killed him that contribute to the same violence that was committed against Shaniya and Jashon. The young men who killed Derrion, were no different than the full grown men who killed Shaniya and Jashon. I am also saddened because if life is cheap the life of a black person, the life of a black child is even cheaper! We have for too long been silent and permissive while our children are being slaughtered and no one seems to care.

Take a really good look at their pictures because I want people to feel the gravity of the loss that we have sustained to our future. Our hearts should break and our eyes should overflow with tears as sorrow becomes outrage and outrage becomes action! This is not acceptable on any level and yet because of the silence of a nation and the silence of the black press and the black community we have by default given killers a certain comfort level in taking the lives of our children. Jashon's killer who was responsible for killing another child in 1994, was so brazen that he to also took the life of Jashon's mother, 23 year old, Zoelina when the young woman demanded to know what happened to her baby after he went missing. Her battered body was found in a park in Oakland, CA. about two weeks prior to Jashon's body being found in a city marina.

A broken heart, as it heals makes one desperate for change and if managed correctly the pain of that broken heart will become the catalyst for miracles to occur and permanent solutions for what before seemed to be unsolvable and unconquerable. Our hearts deserve to break not just when we look at pictures of missing, murdered and forgotten children but every time we look into the face of any child, especially our own, our hearts should break and move us to the point of desperation. A desperation that will hold killers accountable and keep as many of our children as safe as possible and if by chance, they should go missing create a network or a support system of some kind that will increase the chances of them being found before they are killed and thrown away like trash.

Dear Derrion, Shaniya & Jashon:

I am sorry that I, the black press, the black church and the black community as a whole did not do more to see to it that you grew up to be a blessing to your communities. I'm sorry that we had to say goodbye to you all too soon and mourn your deaths instead of celebrating your lives! I'm sorry for all of the birthdays, holidays, proms and graduations and other milestones of life that you will never have the opportunity to experience. I'm sorry, so sorry that our community failed to treat you like the awesome and precious souls that you are! You deserved so much better and we have failed you. Our greatest mistake is that we didn't value your lives and protect you like we should have but now you are to rest in the bosom of our heavenly Father and hopefully one day we'll see you again!

Black Women and The Loyalty Factor: At What Cost?

I recently listened in on a radio talk show addressing the issue of black women daring to date outside of their race. This issue has always been a subject of great controversy in the black community as there is a double standard in terms of how the black community views men who date and marry outside of our race and women who date and marry outside of our race.

I find it rather funny that despite the fact that black men are virtually absent from the home and their children's lives (for those brothers for whom this does not apply please don't get offended), and if there are any black females out there like me who only had a hand full, if any positive black males as role models and if the only black men in your world growing up were womanizing, disrespectful men who did not reflect the image of a positive black male role model for you then you of all people would be well justified in dating and even marrying outside of your race. Let's face it most black women, especially those of us who are late baby boomers and Gen Xers have been socialized to first of all believe that who we are is not attractive enough for a man outside of our race, and that because of the history of white men raping black slave women that somehow to marry a white man would be a betrayal of one's race. So a lot of black women have limited themselves in terms of who they will date and subsequently marry all because they do not want to be responsible for betraying the black man. As a result many black women have a loyalty to black men that black men don't have towards them. That's not all bad especially if you are a Christian. As a Christian, you realize (or at least you should) that in the post resurrection era of grace and truth that we now live in that this earth suit is temporary and not the object by which we should judge another person. Never mind that there is racism, etc. in the church, that is not God's fault neither was it ever His intent but understand that the sins of prejudice and racism are no different than any other sin in that they have been covered by the blood of Jesus. With that being said, I don't condemn black men for dating and marrying women of other races, instead I am encouraging black women to open themselves up to the possibility that the man that God may have for them might not share the same culture or the same color earth suit and that's okay. Black women need to give up on this myth of the sexual virility of a black man and the swagger, if you will, of a black man. Statistically speaking it would be nearly impossible for every black woman who truly wants to be married to marry a black man as there is such a disparity in terms of the pool of available, marriable black men. So it is within the interest of the black woman to at minimum be open to the possibility of having a husband of a different race. God is a great big God and if you limit His provision because you are not willing to accept that your spouse might not be of your race then you are in jeopardy of ending up with someone who was not meant for you or ending up alone. God has ordained marriage and if you are certain that it is God's will for you to be married then also accept that your husband might not be black!

The other funny thing is that black men have accepted this and they are going on happily with their white, Asian, and Latino wives. When are we going to learn? Forget about all of the lame arguments that I so often hear from black men (who don't want a black woman) that marrying outside of our race is a part of some huge conspiracy to "water down" the black race. I only hear those arguments raised when it pertains to a black woman marrying any one other than a black man. If you are a black woman who is night after night going home to an empty house or even raising your children alone but you know in your heart that God has given you a desire to be married, who are you being loyal to and at what cost? Don't limit God's blessings because of this flesh that will one day be laid to rest and return to the dust. When you gave your life to Christ you became a new creature or creation so if your identity at one time was that of basically being a black woman, your identity should now be in Christ and in Him race and ethnicity are irrelevant. Practice love to everyone, everywhere and let go of every antiquated notion of who you were supposedly before you knew the Lord. Allow the Lord to do a new thing in your life and that new thing might very well be a man who will love you, honor you, and respect you regardless of his race or ethnicity because when all is said and done God knows the plans that He has for you and His plan might be to bless you to know the love of a godly man who is not black.

Missing My Cover

You know the uncomfortable feeling of waking up and realizing that you are not covered then searching in the dark half asleep for the sheet and the blanket, only to find them on the floor? Well, that's how I've been feeling lately like I'm missing my covering. The truth is I have been missing a covering for quite sometime, from the moment my father walked out of my life to ending up unmarried with two children. I know that in this day and age where to some marriage appears to be a futile, superficial act, I have overcome my pride and now at the age of 38, I can admit that I want to be married. Ten years ago I was still going through the "I-really-want-to-be-married-but-if-I-admit-it-I'll-look-weak" madness! Another thing that kind of influenced me was the fact that every time I mentioned, in the slightest, wanting to get married and have kids, my mother never seemed to be thrilled with the thought of me being married. So I thought that her lack of validation towards marriage was enough to continue my charade of disdaining marriage.

I just saw Anthony Hamilton perform his latest song "The Point of It All" on The Mo'Nique Show and I love stuff like that but all it does is make me long for someone to enjoy it with. I feel like I've missed out and the fact that I have chosen through a series of malformed decision to have two children out of wedlock makes me even more aware of the importance of the covenant of marriage. To make matters worse I fell in love with a man who says that he loves me and even told me that he believes that I am his wife but our relationship is on pause right now. We live in different states and we were trying to sort out whether I would move there or if he would move here. He doesn't like where he is, and I have had my fill of Columbus but I wasn't crazy about where he lives and he didn't like the job market here. So things have been at a stand still and I am at a loss. At the risk of being perceived as desperate, I am tired of being single and because of what I believe as a Christian woman no longer desire the company of any man who says that he loves me only to end up a concubine and not a wife, I want my "Boaz"! Proverbs 18:22 (paraphrasing) says, "A man who finds a wife finds a good thing and is blessed of the Lord." I want to enjoy dinner with the family, husband included. My kids and I have family night on Friday and Saturday nights, I would love the opportunity to share that with my husband. I want to sit comfortably in the arms of a man who truly knows what the covenant of marriage is really about and spend the rest of my life with him. Will I ever experience that? Who knows! But I've moved out of sync with the Father's will for my life enough to know by now that I need to be still and trust God to be God. He is never slack concerning his promises toward us (2 Peter 3:9) and He is faithful (I Corinthians 1:9) and if we who are human know how to give good things to our children, how much more will He who is our Heavenly Father give us good gifts to those of us who ask Him (Matthew 7:11). Lord knows that I have asked! This was just a little something that was on my heart and my mind. Be encouraged!

What is co-washing?

I got this revelation about a year ago after reading the label on the shampoo and then reading the label on the conditioner and I had an epiphany that the ingredients in the conditioner would cleanse and help my hair better than the shampoo without stripping my hair's moisture like shampoo and wouldn't you know it, there is a method for that called co-washing! Twilight Zone Musings: Bridezilla

Every other Sunday night I watch WE tv's infamous Bridezilla. I say every other Sunday night because some of these chicks are so insufferably obnoxious that I absolutely refuse to watch such foolish and obtuse behavior from grown women! But I'm sitting here as a single woman and I am looking at these women, who for the most part range in merely cute to beautiful outwardly and yet they are so ridiculously ugly from the inside. I am also looking at the prospective grooms and I can't help but wonder what could possibly be these men's motives for marrying such inwardly unattractive women (I'm trying to be polite). Matthew 12:34 (NIV) says "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." To a large degree I believe that you attract what you are down on the inside, so are the brides an accurate outward reflection of their grooms when they are mouthy, rude, superficial and obnoxious? Hmmmm...

I look, and of course let me preface this by saying this is only my opinion so you can take it for what it's worth, what man in his right mind would marry these chicks and seriously consider marriage to someone who for one of the most important day of her life displays such a lack of class, tact and character? Look, I know I'm not all that and these chicks have one up on me in that they are getting married and I don't even have a decent prospect in sight but that's what's on my mind and on my heart! I'm thinking, "Abba, if you can bless these women with a man who will love and care for them and put up with their mess, then where's my husband?" It's just an observation but there it is...

Can't Get No Satisfaction

This week with the release of Chris Rock's movie "Good Hair", Mo'Nique and Sherri Shepard both debuted their shows on BET and Lifetime, respectively. The Cleveland Show made its debut about a week ago, and the U.S. has its first black President and guess what black people are still NOT satisfied!!! We are the biggest haters of US! There is a self-loathing that runs so deep that no matter what we do there is a dissatisfaction and a hatred that is more venomous and destructive than the most powerful white supremacist. Case in point, The Real Housewives of Atlanta is widely viewed but some blacks claim not to watch it because "it's a poor depiction of black women". Huh!? I didn't hear women of Italian heritage complaining so loudly about The Real Housewives of New Jersey or blondes griping about the negative image of blondes presented on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Mo'Nique is too hood; Oprah's too white or caters to white people too much, the criticisms are seemingly endless. It's exhausting and actually a huge reason why there aren't more images of us on television and in the movies. Black people are too hyper-critical and overly obsessed with what white people think.

One of the things that I so admire about our Latino/Hispanic brothers and sisters, when I look at Univision or Telemundo, they do things that are overtly stereotypical and yet they look and behave as if they could really give a flying fig if you or the white person next to you cares or is twisted enough to laugh at them and not with them! I'm not saying by any means that there aren't some Latinos or Hispanics who aren't offended by some of the images on these networks but you will never hear or see them putting their own people on blast in the media so as to validate them in the eyes of ignorant white people who want to unfairly judge them on an individual level. Black people really need to not take themselves so seriously! Okay, white people now know that a lot of black women wear weaves! Get over it! Mo'Nique is sassy and everything that a homegirl should be! If you don't like it, get a life!

I had this debate a few years ago when Girlfriends became a hit on the now defunct UPN. Black people were saying profoundly ignorant things like "that's not how REAL black women act" or "they're making all black women seem loose and immoral." How silly! I never heard white women sit and bash Sex In the City and yet if a white woman wasn't feeling the show, she simply wouldn't watch it. Why are we always apologizing for who we are? And if the image you see does not represent you individually and you aren't feeling the characterization then it's okay! The black experience is a broad experience and it does not belong to the chick in the suburbs or the homegirl in the hood. It belongs to all of us! We have many stories and many images that reflect who we are, there is no one story or one way that we should be seen our viewed. Many of us have bought into the lie that we are a monolithic group of people and if you've seen one black person you've seen us all or worse you have those black people who are suffering from post traumatic, slave syndrome where the question in the back of your mind is "what will white people think?" Get over it! Who cares what they think and if they think something negative about us let that be their problem and not our problem! I'm so fed up with this inverted, racist view of who we are in that we are never satisfied that the next negro I see on Facebook or Twitter hating on a black person, show, whatever because it's not black enough or is not a proper image of black people, I am truly going to have a fit! The energy that we use worrying about what white people think of us could be put to better use by us helping each other to excel in the work place and other aspects of society so that we are able to justifiably refute any negative stereotype, not with words but with how we act and live our lives. The beginning of that however is loving ourselves. We don't love us and that is the primary reason why we don't feel comfortable enough in our own skin to laugh at ourselves even if others are laughing at us. We need to stop being afraid to openly discuss things about our human experience that maybe relatively unique to us. We truly need to love us "warts and all"! Until we do we will continue to sabotage us and be our own worst enemy. United we stand, divided we fall is not just a song, it's a reality!

P.S. The next time you find yourself getting hyper-critical, and hyper-sensitive about a particular image of black people ask yourself honestly where the root of it is coming from! If it's because you are obsessing over what a white person will think, that's a problem that you have with you as a black person. White people don't care and the ones who do, don't matter where it regards your humanness or your blackness.

Enough Is Enough...Republicans Do Not Have Christianity On Lock!

We live in a wonderful country true enough but we are living in an era where Christians are wanting more than ever to be associated with a political platform rather than the Word of the True and Living God. During the last election this nation elected it's first Black president and now we are seeing unfold before our very eyes the revelation of the so-called, Christian right, conservatives who are incessantly spreading and perpetuating lies, myths and fallacies that actually conflict with the Bible that they claim to believe. After eight years of backing the Bush administration after they lied and divided the country by constantly perpetuating fear and doing other things to subvert the authority of the constitution and even undermine the church, we are now being subjected to a new unfounded fear and that is that of our newly elected president being a socialist or communist or some kind of Black man with an ax to grind against white America. Now understand, that many fundamentalist Christians are treading very lightly and although they will elude to him possibly being a Socialist or the possibility of him even being the anti-Christ, for the most part they are being very careful lest they appear to be remotely racist in their erroneous depiction of President Obama.

It started during the presidential election of the past year, when Sarah Palin hit the Republican ticket as the running mate for the much maligned, Republican candidate, John McCain. Palin who claimed to be a fundamentalist Christian, was now being touted as the new face of the Republican party. She spouted hate-filled, borderline racist rhetoric pertaining to Obama's own faith and perpetuated and cultivated an environment of bigotry and suspicion against her running mate's opponent. Rarely were the true issues ever addressed but the foundation for doubt, suspicion and bigoted fear had been laid and even though Obama successfully won and it appeared for a brief moment that people saw through the fabricated, facade of suspicion as to whether or not, Obama could be an effective president had been discredited those feel-good moments only lasted until...the health care debate. Then the so-called, religious right, conservative, Republicans took the gloves off and all kinds of lunatic conspiracy theories have been created and cultivated by these “Christians” who apparently don't read their Bibles and if they do, they don't care to obey it which (as we will come back to) doesn't make them Christians at all!!!

Keep in mind that this is the same party that has been successful in winning elections through fear, remember Willie Horton? Then 9/11, homosexual marriage and abortion gave them eight years worth of ammunition against their opponents and further established and engrained a sense that even if they might have been lying, that there is or might have been a grain of truth in the mess that they were filtering through the so-called liberal media. I remember Republicans visiting churches even ironically predominately African American churches and advertising on Gospel music radio stations in 2004 about the threat of homosexual marriage and adoption being made legal to those in homosexual unions as well as other matters regarding late term abortion would be implemented if the democrats gained control of the White House. It's rather strange because those things took place regardless! While Bush was still in office, various states took advantage of their ability to make legal decisions regarding their respective citizens by making homosexual marriage legal and adoptions to those in homosexual unions legal. Bush's being in office didn't stop that because that was an issue of the state's right to implement and enforce laws regarding marriage and adoption and yet the Republicans were able to successfully deceive many Christians into believing that only a Republican elected in to the White House would influence society in the ways of biblical laws and principles. This fallacy was perpetuated primarily because the vast majority of people don't have a clue as to the constitutional abilities of the president, congress, the Supreme Court or any branch of government enough to vote conscientiously regarding these very serious issues. So they soak in these grinning lying politicians who visit their churches and they never bother to disseminate for themselves as to whether or not the garbage that is so often spewed through those ignorant political commercials is false or badly skewed in one direction. So the pundits and lobbyists take advantage of this willful illiteracy, ignorance and fear among the American people, like I suppose the real anti-Christ will one day by deceiving many Christians into believing the lie of effectively legislating morality! The Republicans only believe in big government when it pertains to issues of morality and Christians often times fall for it because Americanized Christianity is nothing more than a mockery of true, biblical Christianity. These so-called Christians have been lulled into a desensitized perversion of Christianity where they no longer feel obligated to commit themselves to believing the Word of God regarding service to the community and government service they are in actuality fighting for a theocracy. It's not enough for them that the Bible already states that Christ has been given authority over all things (Ephesians 1:21-23) and that God will ultimately rule and reign over the earth but right now it is the Christians responsibility to emulate Christ and allow Him to rule and reign in their hearts so that the love of God will compel people to serve Him. That's not good enough for the Republican Christian.

This is the deal, if you are a REAL, Bible-believing Christian then you will not in all good conscience affiliate yourself with any political party!!! I'm not saying that you shouldn't stand up for the unborn or the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman but what I am saying is that you can not get so caught up in to politics that it puts you at odds with the Word of God.

I am currently reading the book of Daniel and I just finished the epistles of Titus and James. I realized that during the time that the book of Daniel took place, the Hebrews were exiled under the reign of several pagan Kings and yet the only time that they rebelled was when they were directly ordered to worship any other god besides the True and Living God. In the time of Titus and James and the apostle Paul who wrote both epistles, the early Christian church was being persecuted and many were being imprisoned and killed because of their faith and yet I never once read Paul abdicate infiltrating and overthrowing the government in an attempt to create a theocracy! Paul understood, just like Daniel and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego that God puts people in places of leadership of His own choosing and that we are to respect authority and those who have rule over us! Romans 13:1 is very clear: Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Daniel or Paul would have never been so disrespectful as to treat their respective leaders the way that conservatives such as Congressman Joe Wilson or Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, or other noted so-called, Christian conservatives disrespect President Obama. So while the Republicans are trying desperately to stage a mutiny of epic proportions based on fear and lies, if you are a real Christian you will read The Word of God and get it in you so that you are not deceived into idolizing a country and giving ideology precedence over the God that you claim to serve.

Recently, I heard a notable messianic Rabbi say that the Lord gave him a dream years ago where he was preaching and the congregation stood up and began to defiantly drown him out by saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Basically he was saying that people are making a “god” out of the United States of America. She can do no wrong as long as good old fashioned, right-wing, conservative, “Christians” are at the helm. Nothing could be further from the truth! Real Christians need to first of all take back our faith that has been hijacked by apostate, bigoted, hypocrites and the false prophets (preachers who claim to be Christians but have conveniently put aside obedience to the Word of God) who preach the gospel of the religious right and not the gospel of Christ. These phonies are preying on the ignorance and illiteracy of Americans who are too lazy to know the Bible and sound doctrine for themselves. Especially white American Christians who feel as if their sense of entitlement is being threatened by the onslaught of a black president to where they are willing to disobey God's word to be associated with a political affiliation or belief rather than the word of the Most High God.

I don't agree with everything that comes from the Obama administration but if I could muster up the strength to pray for former President Bush (and even support him in the very few times that he was correct) then I can definitely pray for President Obama and his administration and real Christians will do that no matter who is in office because they will honor the Word of God and respect authority. Phony Christians however will continue to be deluded into thinking that to be Christian is to conform to some archaic standard of political dogma that perpetuates division, hatred and bigotry in the body of Christ! Keep this in mind, this world is not your home (Hebrews 11:16); you are in this world but not of it and you should obey God rather than men (Act 5:29). If you're willing to idolize country over God now, you are a prime candidate to be an anti-Christ follower later. Many of them will be deceived because their hearts were always committed to something or someone other than God any way. They have only called themselves “Christians” to legitimize who they are and what they do but there is no validity in their relationship with Christ. When you have made a commitment to Christ you forfeit your “right” to yourself and anything that is in opposition to the Word and will of God so if what you believe is hate-filled, divisive (within the body of Christ) or perpetuates anything other than the love of Christ, it is in error, it isn't Christ-like and you are misrepresenting the God you claim to serve. All Christians who are to heavily politically affiliated in either direction to where it compromises your faith in God or if your faith is filtered through your political affiliations instead of an actual relationship with God then your priorities as a Christian are skewed and you are defeating the true purpose of being a Christian and dare I say you are not a Christian so stop lying and telling people that you are! Stop misrepresenting the cause of Christ to exalt and magnify your own agenda that's what Judas did. He followed Jesus and when following Jesus was not enough he betrayed Him because Jesus was ultimately not the man who would fulfill his agenda to liberate the Jewish people. You will not captivate the hearts of the American people for Christ through the Republican party or any other political party for that matter and failure to realize this for what it is will only frustrate and discredit you as a Christian.

If you are truly a Christian with only good intentions but you have been deceived into thinking that the only way that you could be a good American, Christian is too be a good ol' Republican then I challenge you to repent and then I also challenge you to ask God to help you so that your perceptions are filtered through the Holy Spirit so that you can walk in the faith, love and obedience to the gospel of Christ forsaking the gospel of the Republican party or any other false representation righteousness. Serve God not your agenda!
